How to Become a Kentucky Prescribed Burn Crew Member

A Burn Crew Member working under a Kentucky Certified Burn Boss must have one of the following:

Have successfully completed the Kentucky Prescribed Fire Councils Kentucky Controlled Burn Workshop

Has completed the following three class: (Self-guided, free, courses offered through the National Wildfire Coordinating Group)

NWCG S-130 Firefighter Training
NWCG S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
NWCG I-100 Introduction to Incident Command System
(verified by National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) certificates)

The Kentucky Controlled Burn Workshop for Burn Crew Members is offered on an as needed basis and following the Kentucky Prescribed Fire Councils Annual meeting. Check the calendar for dates.
